Frequently asked questions
Does it need the internet?
No. Local control of KNX, Matter and HomeKit operates entirely within the local network, and the internet master switch ships off by default. Only online activation, remote access and AI require outbound internet access.
Which home platforms does it work with?
Natively supports Apple Home, Google Home, Amazon Alexa, and SmartThings. Bridges directly through embedded Matter and HomeKit native stacks without cloud relay, delivering local millisecond response even when offline.
How does it connect to KNX?
Through a KNX IP interface (UDP or TCP tunnelling) or an IP router (multicast routing); native direct link requires dedicated hardware.
What does it run on? Can I use an existing Linux KNX router?
Runs directly on ARMv5 and ARM64 Linux devices as a single, fully static executable with zero external dependencies. You can drop it straight into an existing embedded Linux KNX IP router to run in the background; it attaches to the bus via local loopback or multicast while existing routing and tunnelling services continue working uninterrupted, instantly transforming your hardware into an AI super gateway. Pre-installed Pro Box hardware is also in preparation.
Can I use it without an ETS project?
Yes. Scanning the physical bus reverse-engineers physical device models, wiring topology, and group address associations, generating device configs automatically. Existing ETS projects can also be directly imported (except Community edition).
Does the AI run locally?
Not locally. Agents connect to the configured model provider (cloud subscription or custom API key) and require outbound internet access.
Can I use it without activating?
Yes, as Community edition: up to 40 devices, excluding ecosystem native bridges, AI, and remote maintenance features.
The gateway can't go online. How do I activate it?
Use offline activation: generate an offline activation request on the gateway and send it to support to receive a license code; the gateway never connects to the internet.
Who can access the gateway remotely?
Only users explicitly granted access on the local bridge and integrators bound on site. Every session validates local credentials, and access can be revoked at any time.
How do I update the firmware?
Check for updates or upload update packages in the web UI; if a new version fails to start, it rolls back automatically to the previous version.
